penyidikan	Dilakukan oleh penyidik. Penyidikan dilakukan setelah penyelidikan dan dapat termasuk pemeriksaan tersangka dan saksi dengan atau tanpa penangkapan atau penahanan dalam rangka mengumpulkan barang bukti. Setelah penyidikan selesai dan kalau polisi berpendapat barang bukti cukup, perkara dapat diserahkan kepada penuntut umum. These are investigations which follow on from the penyelidikan and might include interrogations (pemeriksaan) with or without arrest and detention to assist in the collection of evidence. After the penyidikan is complete, if the police believe there is sufficient evidence to proceed, they may hand the case over to the prosecutor.
